Read it a weep ladies, the 90s choker trend is back.  Which means, today I am sharing some guidelines on How to Wear a Choker.

I don’t believe chokers came back all on their own. I believe they’re here with a little help from the overall 90s rebirth that has been happening in fashion.  It’s the ultimate “cool girl” accessory. Chokers aren’t always the easiest to pull off (might be why we mostly see them on super models and North West).  However, if you watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians (I catch it when my other series aren’t on), you’ll notice that Kim has been rocking the trend 9 months pregnant.  Now I know she can pull anything off, but anyone at 9 months pregnant is not feeling like their hottest self.  In order for all women to feel confident in the trend, I am sharing a few “How to Wear a Choker” guidelines.

1. Remember that most types are chokers are a go (metal, jeweled, satin, velvet, the multi wrap, lace, dangling pendant, a wrapped scarf and etc).

2. If you don’t love your bare neck, try layering it. I saw quite a few women at NYFW 2016 wearing them over their turtlenecks and it actually worked.

3. In order to break it up, try adding another necklace to the look.  It’s nearly just as common to layer them with other pieces as it is to wear them alone.

4. Wear them with something feminine.  Because chokers tend to be edgy (especially in black) I think they are extra chic with a faux fur jacket or a flowy dress.

5. If you don’t like the edgy hard looking chokers, try going the softer victorian route by using lace, pearls or a subtle velvet.

My beautiful girlfriend Courtney wore an amazing Fallon crystal and leather wrap choker during NYFW.  It was spot on!  I intended to wear a really cool silver metal choker I brought with me, but the weather was too d*mn cold I was afraid the metal would give me frostbite! I’ll be pulling it out real soon.

I hope I’ve inspired you today! xo

There are different types of chokers that could be styled either alone or in a combination with other necklaces. Whatever style you prefer, there is a choker waiting for you out there. 🙂
