SK-II Do women have an expiry date

07|10|2017

This post is in partnership with SK-II

This video speaks to me on so many levels.  As an individual, a friend, a mother, a spouse and a daughter.  I have always worked in an industry where age mattered.  I love the idea of a skincare company like SK-II raising awareness that we are so much more than our age.  This film is so daring and creative.  What a fantastically bold move for a skincare company to market their product as being empowering rather than making you look like you’re nineteen again. It all about aging with grace and being comfortable in your own skin. Can you imagine being born with an expiration tattoo like that?! I would have given up a long time ago.  The idea of this woman breaking so many stereotypes/labels and following her heart is so inspiring.

Before I started blogging I worked in the entertainment industry for years as a dancer, actress and model (to supplement my acting and dancing).  The way I looked  meant so much to my work and me.  If I am being honest, as an influencer it’s still is a big part of my work.  I don’t know that I’ll ever escape it completely.  One thing that has helped embrace the idea of “aging” is that with age, I love who I am more and more.  Maybe our skin changes and wrinkles start to appear, but our minds get so much better.  I’d take that trade off anyday.

Call me a dreamer, but I firmly believe that if we want something bad enough we can have it (for the most part) as long as we are willing to work for it.  Execution outweighs almost everything, including age.  So many successful people have tried, tried and tried again.  Often times they have have to pick themselves up and reinvented themselves at any age.  So now ask yourselves, do women have an expiry date?

Did you know…..

Julia Child didn’t cook until she was 40 and didn’t have a show until she was 50?

Andrea Bocelli didn’t take opera seriously until he was 34 and many told him it was too late?

Stan Lee was 43 when he started sketching spiderman?

Mother Theresa said Christ spoke to her at the age of 38 and two years later she left everything behind and established the Missionaries Of Charity organization at age 40?

As you can see, we are what we believe, so if we believe we have expired or missed our boat, that will become our reality.

Here is to a fresh new start and knowing as long as we are here we have a calling no matter your age. #neverexpire #changedestiny #SKII
