Houndstooth Pants HERE Peek a boo clutch HERE Printer Sweatshirt HERE Neon pumps HERE
I am excited about this post, because the entire look (head to toe) is under $150. I saw this picture of Blake Lively and got inspired to mix and match prints using my houndstooth cords. I planned to post this picture of Blake/my take on it a while ago, but It wasn’t until this very moment that I spied a friend of mine in the picture standing behind her. Such a small world sometimes!
Mixings prints can be really cool or a total disaster. It’s not the easiest to tackle, but when done right it can be really chic. Here are some tips to mixing and matching prints…
- Try combing florals with neutral stripes
- For a safer bet, mix prints that are close to the same color (like I did above)
- If mixing a textured piece (ex tweed) finish it off with a softer texture (ex silky sheer)
- Try to mirror something from one printed piece to the other printed piece (ex tuxedo stripe pants and a top with a print that also includes a horizontal stripe)
- Combine loose prints with structured prints
